Yesterday we year 8s visited Lakes High School for high school options. We did lots of activities but my favorites were gym because we played a game called pirates and the aim of the game was to run around the gym on the yellow lines and in the middle the was a mega tramp with a mini tramp leading on to it with climbing walls all around the gym and if you got tagged by a pirate you were out. Science was pretty cool because we put dry ice in a film canister, turned it upside down and it blew up. Also we dissected a deer's eye ball and blew up deer lungs, it was AWESOME!!!! And last of all we had cooking and we had to make chocolate and we dipped biscuits in chocolate and covered them in sprinkles. We also did maths, french, japanese art really enjoy lakes high and hopefully that will be my high school.

Devon sports exchange
On Monday the 2nd of september Devon intermediate in New Plymouth came up to mokoia intermediate for a sports exchange. It happens every year and each year we fight for the Richard Thomson cup, there are seven sports and whoever get the most points wins the cup (this is mokoia scores). The scores were: for netball year 8 B team won 28/12, year 8 A netball won 39/8, basketball won 68/26, girls soccer won 1/0, boys soccer won 1/2, year seven A netball won 28/5 and rugby we lost 68/23. They stayed here for three days and I took a billet his name was Roan. So I am really happy that mokoia won the cup.

storm breaker
Storm Breaker
Standing on
the roof of a deadly fall sail threatens to shoot Alex Rider. This is a movie
we watched on Monday 1st, it is an exiting move but it was kind of
obvious of what he was going to next. The book wasn’t as cheesy as the movie
and I am going to tell you why.
The characters
are Alex Rider a 14 year old boy who has been recruited for the MI6 team. He has
a house keeper named Jack who looks after him. Ian Rider is his uncle who was a
main spy for the MI6 team he sadly gets shot in the end. Sail is an evil person
who creates the new storm breaker computer but the people who have one don’t know
that there is a virus in it that will release it and kill everyone who has one.
Alex Rider
is an ordinary school boy who becomes a secret spy. Jack has been living with Alex
for 7 or 8 years. Sail is a millionaire because he creates computers but this
time he has made one that should wipe out everyone who has one. Ian Rider is Alex’s
uncle and Alex thinks that he works at the bank but he lied and he is actually one
of the MI6 best secret spy’s.
My favourite
part is towards the end when sail threaten to shoot him until a helicopter
comes and a person inside it shoots him and he falls of the building and splats
on the ground.
I recommend
this movie who are adventurous people who like spys
I hope you
enjoy this movie and overall I thought it was awsome

blobs in a bottle
This week we have been making lava lamps in test tubes in science class. We put a quater of water in the tubes and then filled the rest up with oil and added food colouring and it mixed with the water in the bottom. The reason the water was in the bottom is because oil is lighter then water so the water stays in bottom. Alker selza doesnt react with oil so it just sinks to the water and fizzes up. The bubbles bring food colouring up and makes it look like a lava lamp.

The Hatchet
Over the first term we have been reading a book called the hatchet. It is all about a boy named brian who was visiting his dad in Canada when his plan crashed into a lake in the middle of nowhere. He makes a shelter, catches his food and leans to fight for himself. He is lost in the bush next to a lake with a dead pilot still strap into the plane. He finds the survival pack, finds an emergency beacon and calls for help. He gets home safely and lives a happy life.

Yesterday (26 march) norm Hewitt came to our school and talk
to us about his life and about animal cruelty on behalf of the SPCA (Society
for the Prevention on Animals). He is also an ex-all black the best rugby team

camp poem
In front of me I see a row of native trees.
In the distance I see a great thick
forest.
Above me I see the great burning sun
as it beams down on me.
Below me I feel the hard ground as it
scratches my legs
I can hear the vehicles way out in
the distance
I can smell the fresh air as it fills
my nose
I can tastes the crunchy sand as it
gets stuck in my teeth
It makes me feel like I am free boy.
