MY CREATIVE CREATURE
My animal is a Chookimai and I would like to tell you more about this extreme creature.
Appearance
The Cookimai has gruesome, slimy fingers that help him get a grip on newspapers to have a ball of entertainment. He has ugly toes. His ears are as thin as paper and are extremely fluffy. They are the size of a cow’s ears. You rarely see them because they are usually swimming in the toilet at night! During the day they are looking for food.
Diet
The Chookimai eats a range of foods that are: chips, lollies, cans, dirt, bananas, fungi, paper, stones, rocks, shoes, paint and even dishwashing liquid. When he eats something sweet his tongue goes yellow, if it goes red it is sour. The Chookimai is as blind as a bat but has the hearing of a deer.
Population
Sadly there are only 194 of the Chookimai left in the whole world. There is one in each country. The Chookimai was introduced in a small town called Warsaw, the capital of Poland. The Chookimai spread by plane and got around lots of countries (also by ship and boat). There is even one in Antarctica.
Behaviour
The Chookimai is a sly creature that moves like a fluffy sloth climbing along a branch, but as soon as it detects danger it moves as swiftly as a freight train, almost travelling at the speed of light! When the Chookimai is relaxed it will turn a light blue, if it is excited or in shock it will flash all different colours. If they haven't noticed danger when it is right behind them they will lie on their back and will bounce up and down. Somehow it scares the predator away. It sleeps half way into the night until morning and then sleeps half way through the day.
Life cycle
When Mount Halabulogi (say: Hal-ab-a-lug-e) erupted one particular drop of lava was glowing blue, except it wasn't a lava drop it was a Chookimai egg! It multiplied 194 times and that is how they were created.
Enemies
The Chookimai’s enemies are dogs, cats, possums, tigers, humans, lions, snakes, even hawks and other birds of prey. The Chookimai has no fighting skills so it is easy prey for many hungry animals. If the Chookimai gets eaten their blood turns into another Chookimai so it will never become extinct.
Extra Facts
Did you know that the Chookimai can grow another arm or leg in 12 seconds if it gets cut off. The Cookimai can jump 14 metres high. Its tongue can expand to 2 metres long.
